 Emergency!Stock stock photographs
Emergency!Stock is the brand name of the finest, visually striking, photographs of the unique world of emergency services. With more than 25 years experience in commercial photography -- and nearly 20 years as a rescue volunteer in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, Howard brings this unique blend to the rough 'n tumble world of lights and sirens.
Emergency!Stock photographs are not just news photos from the outside looking in. Emergency!Stock photographs are from the inside looking across -- across the fire scene, inside the ambulance and alongside the technical rescue. To capture such realism, photographer Howard M. Paul has climbed inside wrecked vehicles, donned firefighter's "bunker" clothing, rappelled down rock faces, flown in rescue helicopters, created realistic make-up - known as "moulage" - and secured an ambulance atop a moving flatbed truck!

HOW DO WE DETERMINE A LICENSE FEE FOR A STOCK PHOTOGRAPH?
Emergency!Stock does not deal in "RF" or "Royalty-Free photographs, which potentially could be used by your competitors or entities with which you may not want to be confused.
Our photographs are "Rights-Managed" and their uses are strictly monitored to avoid conflicts. Usage may be limited to particular clients, industries, geographic areas or other defining limits.
Emergency!Stock comprises more than 16,000 images of emergency services professionals and emergency scenes. We follow industry-standard practices of pricing the use(s) of our images on the exposure the image will have. Factors that affect the fees for each usage are:
1. How long will the image be used or displayed (one issue, daily, monthly, one-time, six months, 18 months, etc.).
2. How big is the image as a part of the space in which it is published (i.e. 1/4 pg, 1/2 pg, dimensions, etc.) or if on-line, is it on the main page, further into the site, or on a link to your site from an ad on someone else's site
3. How many pieces are printed (i.e. press run or circulation),
4. How much it cost us to create the image initially.
5. Whether your audience that will see the image(s) is local, national, or global viewership.
6. Type of use: editorial, advertising, corporate, etc. Also, print-only, electronic-only or both.
7. Potential uses by you in the future.
8. Whether you would like an embargo on the potential use of the image by your competition.
Misnomer: Images from stock should cost less than an image which was assigned to be created. In reality, an existing image licensing fee isn't worth less than an assignment. You can select the exact image that you want. You don't incur production expenses. There is no risk that the shot won't be exactly what you want. There is no art direction, and you can have it immediately.
Once we receive the details of exactly how you will use the image, if use rights are purchased, we will deliver an invoice & license which will encompass the fees and necessary paperwork.
We wish to maximize your use of the images, and, to that end, we urge you to consider the variety of uses you might have for the image beyond the immediate need. By purchasing the right to use the image in a brochure and a display advertisement at the same time, you can save because you are licensing the rights to the images for multiple uses. If, after a use has been requested, different uses arise, the fees will not be as low as a package would have been initially.
STANDARD BUSINESS PRACTICES OF EMERGENCY!STOCK
We are happy to submit Emergency!Stock stock photographs for consideration for your project. Please keep in mind these simple policies, by which we operate. This will assure a smooth business transaction for both of us.
1. Submissions are for your examination only. Our photographs may not be used in any way without express written permission on our invoice stating the rights granted and payment of the invoice. The fee for any other use shall be three times the usual rate for such usage.
2. It is important for you to discuss your budget with us. Neither of us likes to be surprised when our usage fee is billed to you. We do not necessarily accept "published," "standard" or "known rates" of any client, especially since we may not be aware of them. It is the standard of this industry that the owner (or agent) of the stock photograph determines the fee charged for each particular use.
3. We license Emergency!StockSM stock photographs for individual, project-specific uses. We tailor the use fee to the specific use that you tell us is planned. Other, or additional, use of the same Emergency!StockSM photograph requires an additional fee.
In this way, our clients only pay for what they need -- and do not waste money for "unlimited rights" or a "buyout" when it is truly not needed or financially prudent.
4. We usually send only low-res files for review. They are unsuitable for reproduction. We will send a TIFF or PSD by e-mail or on a CD. We reserve the right to charge a fee for repro-grade scans.
5. Unless other arrangements are made in advance, we expect full payment of our invoice within 30 days.
6. No model releases exist on any photograph unless specified in writing. If a model release is needed for your planned use, please check with us.
7. Unless other arrangements have been made, Emergency!StockSM stock photographs should be returned within 14 days. If necessary, we may waive this requirement. Let us know as early as possible.
8. We may charge a research fee for submitting an extensive selection tailored to your requirements. We waive the research fee if any stock photos are licensed for the use contemplated.
